Number: common, widespread species. About 1270 buzzards can nest in Zhambyl district of North Kazakhstan region. A preliminary estimate of the global buzzard population is 2-3.4 million adults, but these data require further confirmation.
Status.
A species used for other economic purposes (except hunting and fishing).
Distribution.  
The buzzard breeds in the valley of the middle reaches of the Zhaiyk, in Northern Kazakhstan, in the Kokshetau highlands, in the forests of the mountain groups of the Kazakh melkosopochnik, in Kalba, in the Southwestern Altai and the Black Irtysh. It is occasionally found in the Naurzum forest. It is found everywhere during the migration period. It lives in floodplain forests, as well as in lowland and mountain coniferous forests with open steppe areas located nearby.
