Population: The global population of the beardedman is estimated at between 1675 and 6700 mature individuals, but with a marked tendency to decrease. There are about a dozen breeding pairs in Kazakhstan.

Status: A rare and endangered species, low in numbers but stable(Category III).

Habitat: Mountain ranges of southeastern Kazakhstan from Talas Alatau in the south to Zhetysu Alatau and Saur in the north. It is also foundin the ridges of the Southern Altai and on the right bank of the Bukhtarma, on the border with Central Altai.
