Abundance: The number of the sibilant swan in Kazakhstan has not been specifically estimated, but the species is considered stable. The global population is estimated at approximately 598-615 thousand individuals.
Status:
A species that is not used for economic purposes, but has ecological, cultural and other value.
Distribution:
Breeds and occurs on the fly almost all over lowland Kazakhstan. In autumn, it can fly into high-altitude areas, for example, on the Big Almaty Lake. It winters in the Northern Caspian Sea, in Mangystau, sometimes in the Aral Sea off Barsakelmes Island, and occasionally south of Turkestan and Shymkent in mild winters. It lives on fresh and salt lakes with thickets of reeds or cattails.
