Population: A common, sometimes numerous species, sometimes requires regulation.
Status.  
A species whose number is subject to regulation.
Distribution.  
It is widespread in the floodplains of the Syrdarya, Ili, Shu, Karatal, Irgiz, Turgai and others rivers, as well as on the coast of the Caspian Sea. In the Ileysky Alatau, jackals climb the mountains to an altitude of 1800 m above sea level.
