Population: In Kazakhstan, the number of Little Bustards is estimated at about 20 thousand individuals and isconsidered stable. The global population of the species is about 100 thousand to 500 thousand individuals, but with a downward trend.

Status: A rare and endangered species (Category II). Recently threatened with extinction, but now has begun to increase its numbers.

Habitat: It breeds in the steppes of Eurasia, wintering in the Anterior and Central Asia. In Kazakhstan, it is relatively evenly distributed in the western regions; in other parts of the country it occurs sporadically. Its range penetrates into the zone of semi-deserts and even deserts.
