Population: In Kazakhstan, it is estimated at about 20 thousand individuals and is considered stable. The global population of the species is about 100-500 thousand individuals with a downward trend.
Status.
A rare and endangered species.  Category II. A species that was recently threatened with extinction, but now has begun to increase its numbers
Distribution.
It breeds in the steppes of Eurasia. Wintering in the Anterior and Central Asia. In Kazakhstan, it is relatively evenly distributed in the western regions, in other places it occurs sporadically. It penetrates into the zone of semi-deserts and even deserts.
