Status.
A rare and endangered species. Category II. The kulan, as a species in the international aspect, is one of the globally declining animals.
Distribution.
By the beginning of the twentieth century, he disappeared from the territory of our republic. In 1953, on the island of Barsakelmes (Aral Sea) 8 Turkestan kulans were acclimatized, where they successfully bred. The territory of the Altyn-Emel State National Park was chosen to continue the reintroduction. In 1982-1983, 27 kulans from the Barsakelmes State Reserve (7 males and 20 females) were brought there. At the third stage, the resettlement of kulans began in the Andasai State Nature Reserve (Zhambyl region), where about 120 heads were released
