Population:Unevenly distributed across theregion. About 10 individuals have been recorded in Ustyurt.
Status: A rare and endangered species (Category I).
Habitat: In Kazakhstan, thecaracal is found in the Mangystau region, includingareas such as Ustirt, the Bozashy, Mangyshlak, and Tuparagan peninsulas, aswell as in large sandy massifs like Karynzharyk, Tuesu, Bostankum, Sengirkum,Sam, Mataikum, andothers. Historically, it was also present in NorthernKyzylkum.
