Habitat: In Kazakhstan, the settlement of the raccoon dog began in 1936-1937. The first specimens were released in the valley of the Bakhtiyar River in the Trans-Ili Alatau. Gradually, raccoon dogs spread along the Ili River for tens and hundreds of kilometers. They were found in tracts such as Ucharal and the rightbank of the Ili River. In the Dzungarian Alatau, the raccoon dog lived in areas of apple trees and at an altitude of 1000-1100 meters above sea level. They are known to inhabit the old burrows of badgers and eat a variety of foods. In the valley of the Chilik River, these predators lived in thickets of jidaand willow. In the East Kazakhstan region, raccoon dogs are found near springs and rivers.
