As part of the Wildlife of Kazakhstan project, a large-scale photography expedition was organized in the Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve, one of the most important nature conservation sites in the country. This reserve, located in the steppe zone of central Kazakhstan, is known for its rich biodiversity and is home to many rare and endangered species, including those listed in the Red Book.
The main goal of the photography expedition in the Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve was to capture unique moments from the lives of rare animals living in this region and to emphasize the importance of their conservation. This effort also plays a crucial role in the educational outreach of the Wildlife of Kazakhstan project, which aims to raise public awareness about the need to protect wildlife.
The Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve is renowned for its variety of bird species, notably the pink flamingo and the steppe eagle, both of which are listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book. Photographers managed to capture rare footage of these majestic birds in their natural habitat. Additionally, other rare species, such as the saiga and the relict gull, were also featured. The photographers used high-quality equipment and special techniques to minimize disruption to the animals. This resulted in unique images that showcase the behavior of animals in the wild, their interactions with the environment, and with each other.
The collected photographs will be used to create an online platform, Wildlife of Kazakhstan, where the public can learn more about the rare species living in Kazakhstan. This platform will serve as an important tool for education and raising awareness about nature conservation. The photos will also be featured in special themed exhibitions and photo albums, helping to draw broader attention to the preservation of rare species.
