Population: The number in Kazakhstan is estimated at 348-639 pairs. The global population of the species is approximately 12.4 thousand to 36 thousand mature individuals.
Status: A rare and endangered species declining in numbers (Category III).
Habitat: Africa, mountains of Southern Europe, Arabia, Asia Minor, Iran,Afghanistan, India, Central Asia. In Kazakhstan, it lives in the spurs of theTien Shan and Zhetysu Alatau mountains; and on the chinks of the Ustyurt plateau and the Mangyshlak peninsula. It winters in India and Africa.
