Population: 36.6-32.5 thousand flamingos were discovered in the northeast of the Caspian Sea on April 8, 2023. The global population is estimated at 550-680 thousand individuals.
Status.
A rare and endangered species. Category II. A locally breeding species with a declining population
Distribution.
Central America, Africa and southern Eurasia. In Kazakhstan, it breeds in only three places: Lake. Tengiz in Akmola region, Chelkar Tengiz lake (Turgai depression) and the northeastern coast of the Caspian Sea, where they nested until the late 50s and reappeared in the late 70s of the twentieth century.
